Our Story

About the Owner

As a young girl, I loved spending summers in Clay Hill, Arkansas, at my grandparents’ house. I remember watching my grandma transform ladies’ hair in her kitchen. The air was heavy with the scent of pressing combs and Blue Magic, and loud blues music played in the background. The women laughed, talked and nursed drinks while they waited.

My passion for wanting women to look and feel beautiful was born in that kitchen, and grew while I served in the military. I traveled around the world, and with every new duty station I noticed that women like myself with ethnic hair struggled to find someone they could trust to do it. I’d often find myself doing hair for my fellow soldiers.

When I returned home to Las Vegas after serving, I attended cosmetology school and began managing luxury salons and spas on the Las Vegas Strip. The billion-dollar salons on the strip were a far cry from my grandma’s kitchen, but I was dismayed to find that even in luxury salons right here in the US there was still that gap in the industry. Women with ethnic hair looking for a skilled and capable stylist had to either sacrifice the quality of their experience or the skill of their technician, and that didn’t seem right to me.

I decided to create a space where women with textured hair could have their service performed by a skilled technician while still receiving a luxury experience. From the music to the menu, Hyde Park is designed with you in mind. It’s a place where familiarity meets luxury; where my grandma’s kitchen blends seamlessly with the upscale salon and spa. I’m excited to share my dream with you.
